Jon Krakauer Author Biography
Jon Krakauer was born in 1954, and he grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, where he was introduced to mountaineering when he was only 8-years old. After college he spent most of he free time in the mountains. in 1997 he traveled by himself to the Stikine Icecap in Southeast Alaska, and went three weeks without seeing another person. He has climbed an intimidating peak called the Devils Thumb, the West Face of Cerro Torre in the Patagonian Andes, and even Mt. Everest. His tragic descent of Everest became a cook called Into Thin Air, and it became a #1 New York Times bestseller. This has lead Krakauer to do more articles and write more books.
